September 4, 2016 – Outrageous Gratitude

“Outrageous Gratitude”

On awakening this morning, did you tell yourself, “I’m glad you woke up this morning!”? We take it for granted. At night you go somewhere else, experiencing and learning. Each morning you come back to the 3rd dimension. You are one with the infinite power of the universe that creates and sustains this universe and who knows what else.

Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come. He told them, “The kingdom of God is not coming in ways that can be observed…the kingdom of God is within you.” It is a state of awareness of the presence of the divine within. Our beautiful capacity to be able to know this expands as we are more aware. Science has proven that this changes the body. We are then able to perceive a new consciousness through appreciation. It’s measurable, verifiable. Our capacity to see beauty expands. It’s a greater experience of seeing the presence of the divine. It lifts us. It literally raises the flow of spiritual energy in us. We become more sensitive, attuned to the guidance and wisdom with in us. So say I am grateful!

Most of us have been grateful after the beauty has been revealed. But there’s another place to have gratitude—before we see the goodness. That’s not just gratitude, it’s outrageous gratitude! I got to see this. Today we have with us Anastacia Jayet, who wrote the book “Shattered into Being”. She and I have a connection. We both were students at the University of New Mexico. We each had a happy family with a new baby. And we both lost our spouse suddenly and violently. Her life became a state of helplessness. Slowly she began to return. She says in her book, “I am being shown the way, a place of light, through gratitude.” Outrageous. So when your story is too heavy, I am grateful, and awaken to a greater awareness.

Richard Weinman was a man whose wife had Alzheimer’s. When she passed he was assessing the changes in his life, when a cement truck hit him head-on. He awoke three months later in a hospital bed. His body was held together with screws. He’d be bound to a wheel chair. And when he was placed in a care facility, every moment every day was regimented. He began to use a powerful thing. “I could weep over what I couldn’t do, or I could be grateful for what I could do. I was a writer and a professor. I could write again.” He wrote with a stick on a computer keyboard. He wrote a blog about his life. It became a book which is now given to caregivers in many states. He was invited to the White House to be on the council on aging. He didn’t decide to do that when he was in his hospital room where he couldn’t type, where he was in pain, controlled by others. There he only chose to be grateful. Outrageous.

You are a spiritual being and you made the choice to wake up this morning and come here, to show up because you have purpose. If you are in an experience, you have purpose and you have amazing power to choose to feel grateful. Bring that magnificent wisdom of your spiritual self to create the Kingdom, the state of consciousness where you are aware of that goodness, that love, and that purpose, by making a choice. I am grateful! I am grateful! I am grateful! –grateful for that amazing love there every moment, responding.

And for the amazing state of consciousness of your love and gratitude, I am grateful!

March 20, 2016 – Destination or Destiny: Which is the Goal?

Rev. Sheila Gautreaux, L.U.T.
Destination or Destiny: Which is the Goal?

Jesus wasn’t a saint. He was a man. He knew what was coming and said “yes”. Everything he said and did was to show us what we could do, that others who would come after him will be able to say yes to their purpose.

I have wondered for a long time why the story of Palm Sunday says that Jesus had instructed the disciples to bring the young donkey colt with its mother so he could ride it into Jerusalem. It’s my “-ism” that he did so because the mother ass would walk with her colt to share its burden, showing that our mother/god would make her presence known to carry our load at the times we can’t take authority to bear it ourselves. And it was a sign of humility, “your king will come humbly.”

Are we willing to say yes to what we don’t even know is coming? Are we willing to let God walk beside us, trusting, and accept our purpose, which was chosen before we came? Are we willing to do what it takes to move to the highest level of consciousness, the Christ consciousness? He accepted his divinity. He knew what it was and he used it. He knew what was coming—condemnation and death, to be hung on the cross between thieves—and he went toward it in peace. He knew he’d never be led to anything he couldn’t handle.

We are saved now from what keeps us, limits us, by our willingness to say we will go and see what lies ahead. The preparation has already been made. Something amazing is about to happen for us. Nothing can stop me or keep me from my goal, my purpose, because the way has already been prepared. We are royalty; without conceit we are to honor ourselves. We are not the scum of the Earth, not lowly worms in the dust, but sons of God. Each and every day walk out “in royalty”.

The story continues, “blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” “Name” means “nature of”, so blessed is he who comes in the nature of the spiritual law of highest spiritual truth. When we align with universal laws, the highest spiritual revelations, we can’t fail. When things are put before us God says “prove me”. Put it to the test; exercise your spiritual muscle. “It works if you work it.” With life-threatening illness or loss, put God to the test. Go to see what the end will be. Say yes and go forward, trusting.

To be fulfilled means filled full. The Trinity of Fulfillment is 1) forgiveness—trust and forgive what and who seems to have prevented us from fulfilling our purpose. 2) compassion—have compassion for yourself and others who are struggling to find their way in their misperceptions and unknowingness and are in your way. 3) peace—it comes as we walk our pathway, and it “feels right”. Things hum. It is the peace which passes all understanding. “I feel, I am, peace.” For however long, whatever the pitfalls, Through forgiveness and compassion I find peace. Through forgiveness and compassion I find peace. Through forgiveness and compassion I find peace.

Have a wonderful journey!

January 3, 2016 – A New Way to a New Creation

Rev. David McArthur
A New Way To A New Creation

We are at the most amazing time for the unfolding of spiritual awareness of all mankind. It is a time of higher energy, a time to step up to a higher level. Emily Cady said to affirm the good you desire. “Desire in the heart is always God tapping at the door of your consciousness with his infinite supply… The thing you desire…has already been started towards you…and it is the first little approach of the thing itself striking you that makes you desire it…” It has been given and your desire is awakening to it.

Jesus said, “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” But in Taoism, Lao Tzu says, “Desires wither the heart.” Does this mean, “Don’t ask”? Are Jesus and Lao Tzu having an argument? For ages we suppressed our feeling nature because we didn’t know the difference between heart emotions and those initiated by the brain. I believe Lao Tzu was referring to the ego-based desires. My understanding is Jesus spoke of the heart asking, not the head.

The consciousness we have grown into is enough for this moment. But never be satisfied—why stop now? You are limited only by your capacity to understand. We have grown in our capacity and we have grown as a group consciousness.

What are the things we ask for? More money? That’s ok. But the desire for money is usually for the empowerment it provides to do what we came here for. Is it for health? Well, let’s get well and get on with what we came to do. Is it for a better relationship? Are you spending all your energy on a poor relationship? Harmony supports us.

The head’s desire is to have something come TO you; the heart’s desire is to have something come THROUGH you. I had always wanted to share the power of the discoveries of HeartMath at the large gatherings of Unity leaders, but Unity ministers are not asked to be keynote speakers at any of those. So I went deeper in my heart to ask what do I really want. It was a desire I could feel. I could feel it’s power! And  things just changed! The next year I was the keynote speaker! Receive the love already given. It blesses you.

How? Start with feeling love. You can always feel love for another. Hold them in that beautiful feeling. Now you’re deep in your heart. Step back and let that love be the divine love for you. It is right there without condition. Then ask what do I really really want? That love has infinite wisdom. It knows deeply and intimately the desire of your heart. The answer will be given. Say yes! It is a blessing which comes to you and through you. Unlimited blessings flow to me and through me! Right now we are open to unlimited blessings. It’s ok that they come to you. Unlimited blessings flow to me and through me!

You can have beauty, talent, and a comfortable life. It’s not so you can have “more than…” Unlimited blessings flow to me and through me! You can tell when you hit it right because it is really fun!

August 3, 2014 – Non-Resistance–Letting Go

8/3/14 Rev. David McArthur
Non-Resistance–Letting Go

Sometimes you hear “Do not try this at home.” Dennis Nagel, a teacher at my ministerial school, was one of those who is very curious about everything. He wanted to know what would happen if he did complete non-resistance—if he could just be and let the universe support him. So he let his teaching contract run out. He also resigned as minister of his church. He and his wife Kitt even trusted that the universe would provide food and shelter. Things happened to support that. Even the bank kept losing his foreclosure papers. Dennis’ response was passive.

Jesus taught, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth. But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. …love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.” (The greater awareness of the one power, the sun, is beyond the consciousness of evil and good.)

At the wedding in Cana, Jesus’ mother told him there was no more wine. Jesus resisted his mother and said his time hadn’t come. Ignoring him, she went ahead and instructed the servants. So then Jesus did not resist, but changed the water to wine. His non-resistance took him from passivity to action.

As we watch what unfolds we grow in awareness (not necessarily comfort). Lao Tzu put it most beautifully, “The master observes the world but trusts his inner vision. He allows things to come and go”. Practice not doing, “…just stay at the center of the circle and let all things take their course”.

Finally Dennis’ bank got the foreclosure papers together. However, someone called and asked if they’d move in with him. In all the time we knew them they were weel fed and comfortable. They had this urge to put to work this practice of non-resistance—basically by staring fear in the face and moving beyond it.

With Dennis and Kitt a new state of consciousness was created—an awareness of the universe’s care. With Jesus and the water and wine, a new state of consciousness was created, to follow Spirit’s guidance with non-resistance. First acknowledge the resistance. Second, let go and let God. And third,  ask for the guidance. It might be to take other action, or to wait and watch with awareness. Remember, Divine goodness fills my life. Divine goodness fills my life. Feel it? It’s there, no matter the discomfort. Divine goodness fills my life!!

July 28, 2013 – The Light and Love at the Core of Your Being

7/28/13 Rev. David McArthur
The Light and Love at the Core of Your Being

Dr. Peter Russell, PHD in physics, is looking into how the universe really is and the way we actually perceive things. How does our consciousness do it? Reaching a state of pure consciousness by meditating, he “transcended thinking… It was different from waking, sleeping, or dreaming.” He explained that perception is like light moving through film to project out our reality, and when he meditated, he was turning his attention to the light of the projector. But then he knew his was the same light which shines in every sentient being.

In the Upanishads it is said, “Those wise ones, seeing the consciousness is the same in all, is to see it is one; we are one.” From the Koran, “God is the light of heaven and earth. The light that arises into the experience of the mind is where we touch the divine.” Jesus said, “You are the light of the world”. It is from the Christ consciousness that we experience the light, the source. Dr. Russell said unconditional love is always there at our core, that pure consciousness is pure love. “I, in my true essence, am love.” It is the truth of your being.

Dr. Eben Alexander, a Harvard educated neurosurgeon, in his Proof of Heaven, wrote that even though all the electronic sensors showed his neocortex was not functioning, that he was fully conscious throughout his near-death experience, and the he knew instinctively that everything he experienced was true. He relayed the beauty and meaning of his experience this way, “You are loved and cherished, dearly, forever. You have nothing to fear. There is nothing you can do that is wrong.” Say, I am loved and cherished, dearly, forever. Dr. Alexander went on to say that modern physics tells us the universe is a unity in which every particle is weaved with all. There is no separation. He said both Einstein and Jesus spoke of it in their different ways.

These scientists and teachings confirm there is a place where there is power to transform whatever situation we might find ourselves in—where there is the power to transform the self. To do it, journey within, and take attention away from the situation. Move your attention to that place of power. You are loved and cherished, dearly, forever. Say I am loved and cherished, dearly, forever, (no matter how badly I screw up; no matter how everyone around me screws up). It is true, because love is who you are!
